Nowadays it is becoming quite common to enjoy music in a room, but it is often a question whether listeners hear inherent and natural sounds from an audio source. It is widely known that sound properties change and deteriorate due to the sound reflected from room walls, floor, ceiling and so forth.

Sounds reflected at various walls are sometimes sensed as a sort of comfortable reverberation. However, under the circumstance where reflected sound cancels direct sound, this kind of reflection is quite harmful, as it changes the properties of original sound from speaker. In an ordinary sound stage, sound from speaker coexists with un-harmful reflections and harmful reflections.

In an ordinary room a face which reflects speaker sound most powerfully is a ceiling that is hard and flat plane existing the closest to speaker. When sound wave delivered from speaker reflects at ceiling and returns to the speaker in the same phase, as when delivered, a kind of sympathy phenomena takes place. At that time it becomes quite a heavy load against diaphragm’s amplitude movement so that it suppresses the pressure of delivered sound.

The frequency of such phenomenon is determined by the distance between speaker and ceiling. Direct sound having this frequency is first heard, but after reflected sound from ceiling reached speaker, attenuated direct sound is heard. Take 1.5 meters one way or 3 meters round trip for instance as the gap between speaker and ceiling, at sonic speed of 340m/min., eventually you have to hear the direct sound which is attenuated after 0.009 second. And this phenomenon similar to sympathy is generated under the following two conditions, and affected by a group of frequencies which are integral multiples of the lowest frequency.

A. Group of frequencies that are delivered in positive phase from speaker and reflect at ceiling with negative phase then return to speaker in positive phase. - Polaris 8-A System resolves perfectly.

B. Group of frequencies that are delivered in positive phase from speaker and reflect at ceiling in positive phase then return to speaker in positive phase. - Polaris 8-B System resolves perfectly.

Polaris 8 works under the condition of locating a reflector against this sound wave at the specific position so that phenomena similar to sympathy shall not occur by many but particular frequencies between speaker and ceiling and so that their movement of wavelengths cannot be completed. Main part of the system is a hard glass ball with 80mm diameter which corresponds to the diameter of voice coil diaphragm of a general speaker. It efficiently reflects and dissipates sound wave at an appropriate position so that it prevents harmful reflected sound from returning to speaker. Further, it prevents from attenuation of sound pressure such as cancellation phenomenon derived from counter crossing of direct sound and reflected sound both generated in sound wave transmission path.

Point of specific position of sound reflector is different by System A or System B so that it is required to install Polaris 8 at each two particular position, and two systems are required,

Polaris 8-A to resolve phenomenon A and Polaris 8-B to resolve phenomenon B. Of course, you can purchase either system respectively, but it is strongly recommended to first purchase Polaris 8-A, which can be linked with Polaris 8-B below System Polaris 8-A.

In case both systems Polaris 8-A+B are to be used, perfect sound wave correction becomes possible to correct overall bandwidth from the beginning.

Polaris 8 is designed based on a simple principle, and requires no elaborate tools and devices. You can quite easily set up, and enjoy dynamic and perfectly balanced music sound without lack of information. It cannot be affected by a shape and size of a room. You can adjust set-up even if use conditions are changed by re-adjusting the system.
